01/12/2021 Operations Manager II SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Operations Manager, responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of Operations personnel, monitoring the plant operation & process and coordinating any activities involving other plant departments. Independent judgement to accomplish the work with accountable results is expected. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. • Reviews operational reports and initiates action when necessary. • Coordinates and carries out special jobs and projects in the areas of process, operations and maintenance as assigned. • Ensure supply of chemical and operations related equipment is properly maintained. • Review data input by Supervisors for accuracy. • Inspects plant frequently to determine operational efficiency and maintenance activities, and initiates corrective action when needed as well as develops and implements techniques and methods of process control which increase plant efficiency. • Provides guidance and direction to the Operations Supervisors and line staff. • Under the direction of the Operations Manage, make thoughtful recommendations of professional growth to Operations Supervisors and provide feedback written or otherwise regularly and through the Annual Employee Review process. • Under the direction of the Operations Manager, conduct or direct the implementation of meetings with operation staff. • Oversees the staffing of the Operations Supervisory and line staff personnel. • Proficient in the use of computers and software including Excel, Word and Database processing software. • Compiles data and prepares operational reports for regulatory agencies. • Reports all problems to the Operations Manager immediately. • Thorough knowledge of, complies with, directs, implements, and enforces all agency policies, procedures and rules, written or otherwise, at all times. • Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all plant equipment and operations in a wastewater treatment facility. • Communicate effectively and coherently with internal staff, external contacts, visitors and the general public. Ability to satisfactorily understand and carry out oral and written directives. • Reviews and comments on all plans for construction, repair, or replacement of any plant component. • Comply with and enforces all safety requirements including but not limited to wearing of all required safety equipment. Follow safety policies and regulations; take appropriate action in cases of serious and unusual incidents and emergencies. • Oversees emergency or unscheduled work to assure appropriate follow thru. • Operations Manager II will be available on call 24 hours /7 days per week • Performs all other duties as assigned required by the Operations Manager. QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or trade school degree required. A Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or other related technical field is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education which provide the knowledge and skills required to perform the job may be considered. • Possession of a S-2 wastewater treatment license; S-3 license is preferred. • Valid driver’s license • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in plant operations including three (3) years experience in an operational supervisory capacity in a medium to large wastewater treatment facility. Under the direction of the Project Manager, responsible for wastewater engineering and construction management task. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgement capabilities. Work independently as well as in a team environment, and to effectively interact with the management team to contribute toward a common goal. Perform tasks as directed as well as interact effectively and coherently with internal staff, external contacts, visitors and the general public. Ability to satisfactorily understand and carry out oral and written directives. Proficient technical skills in municipal wastewater treatment and collection systems. Design and management of projects involving disposal of wastewater and sewage, or the prevention of flood related damage. Prepare bid documents including final plans, specifications and cost estimates. Prepare environmental documentation for regulatory compliance, data management and analysis, and field work. Knowledge of local, county, state and federal land use processes and regulations. Perform hydraulic modeling and pipeline design. Effectively read, interpret, implement and explain project documents. • Properly document daily activities, subcontractor manpower, scheduling, problem resolution, call logs, change orders, etc. thru electronic daily job reports. • Manage quality control and supervise multiple contractors working at one time. • Must be willing to learn and embrace technology. Proficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD Civil 3D. • Reviews and comments on all plans for construction, repair, or replacement of any plant component. • Performs all other duties as assigned required by the Project Manager. QUALIFICATIONS: • A BS Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or other related technical field is required. MS is a preferred. Other combinations of experience and education which provide the knowledge and skills required to perform the job may be considered. • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineers license (PE) is preferred. • Possession of a wastewater treatment license is preferred. • Valid driver’s license. • Minimum of five (5) years experience. 10/15/2020 Electrician Joint Meeting of Essex & Union Counties,(www.jmeuc.com.) a Wastewater Treatment facility located in Elizabeth, NJ, is seeking a full time, permanent Electrician to work with team members within the Electrical Department as well as with operational team members in other departments. Under the direction of the Electrical Supervisor, the qualified candidate must possess knowledge of industrial/commercial electrical circuitry and control systems, be able to read and follow schematics, comprehend wiring diagrams and prints and be familiar with approved methods. Candidate must be knowledgeable in NEC code requirements and safety standards. The ideal candidate shall possess a minimum of 4 Years electrical experience, preferably in a wastewater or industrial environment. Candidate should have a valid NJ Electrical license (preferred), at a minimum, Qualified Journeyman Certificate. A valid driver’s license is required. Position is represented by Teamsters Local 641.
